Football Recap: Medina Starts Season with Win Against Stow-Munroe Falls

Medina had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 21-13 win over the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Battling Bees' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 259th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Medina to victory, but perhaps none more so than River Blomquist, who threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 47 yards. Kellen Hathaway also helped with two TDs in total.

Another reason for the win was Medina's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Jack Fletcher with two.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medina will take on Hoover at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stow-Munroe Falls, they will challenge Barberton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
