Centennial will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Reservoir, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles came out on top against the Gators by a score of 15-12 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
The team relied heavily on Lila Junker, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Claire Proscher was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, River Hill made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oakland Mills on Friday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Scorpions. The game marked the Hawks' most dominant victory of the season.
Annie Levine made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI.
In other batting news, Erica Massie was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aviana Sekerak, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
River Hill now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Centennial, they now also have a winning record of 5-4.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Centennial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like River Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
