The Grimsley Whirlies will head out on the road to face off against the Western Guilford Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grimsley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Even though Grimsley has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Grimsley walked away with a 43-31 victory over the Tigers.
Grimsley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sanaya Blount, who scored 21 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blount has scored all season. Autumn Clark was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Western Guilford's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Page on the road and fell 84-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Grimsley's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Western Guilford, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Grimsley strolled past the Hornets in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 67-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grimsley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
