Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Catoctin Cougars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were the victim of a tough 37-17 defeat at the hands of Mountain Ridge on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Catoctin in their matchups with Mountain Ridge: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Will Patterson, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 184 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Austin Frost and his 97 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Mountain Ridge's victory.
Catoctin's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Mountain Ridge, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Catoctin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mountain Ridge will square off against Perryville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Perryville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
