The Principia Panthers will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Althoff Catholic Crusaders at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Principia had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six last Friday. They claimed a resounding 64-29 victory over Greenwood on the road. Given Principia's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Greenwood is ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Althoff Catholic waltzed into their game Thursday with six straight wins but they left with seven. Everything went their way against Belleville West as Althoff Catholic made off with a 47-27 win. With Althoff Catholic ahead 25-5 at the half, the match was all but over already.
It was another big night for Emilee Travnicek, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamora Davis, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
