The Whitehall Zephyrs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Boyertown Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Whitehall will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Tuesday, Whitehall didn't have too much trouble with Bethlehem Catholic at home as they won 41-23. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Whitehall has scored all year.
Meanwhile, Boyertown came up short against Upper Merion Area on Thursday and fell 58-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Boyertown came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Upper Merion Area is ranked 508th).
Boyertown's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jack Greaves, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, and Trey Kern who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The game was Kern's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brant Rath, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Whitehall is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Boyertown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Whitehall beat Boyertown 60-52 when the teams last played back in January of 2018. Will Whitehall repeat their success, or does Boyertown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
