The York Cougars were the 32-22 winner over the South Point Red Raiders when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. York was the victim of a rough 43-20 loss at the hands of South Point on Friday. York has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
York lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cooper Green, who scored seven points.
Leading South Point to victory were Amya Graham and Lauren French. Graham dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, while French scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. The matchup was Graham's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Claire Frank was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
York's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for South Point, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York will challenge Indian Land at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Indian Land is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for South Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Stuart W. Cramer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Friday.
