The Ridgefield Tigers came tearing into Saturday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 52-46 win over Wilton. Given Ridgefield's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Warriors are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wilton's loss came despite strong showings from Henry Roy and Ryan Luchetta. Roy scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Luchetta scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Anderson Campbell, who scored six points.
Ridgefield's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Wilton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgefield will take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilton, they will be playing at home against the Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridgeport Central is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
