The Grimsley Whirlies lost against the Northwest Guilford Vikings back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Grimsley ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-27 walloping at the hands of Northwest Guilford. While losing is never fun, Grimsley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Northwest Guilford is ranked 100th).
When it comes to explaining why Grimsley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Autumn Clark. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Clark scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Olson Fine, who scored six points.
Grimsley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Northwest Guilford, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Grimsley will take on Ben L. Smith in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Ben L. Smith will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrew Jackson at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
