The Decatur Community Red Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 47-46 photo finish over St. Francis. Given Decatur Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while St. Francis is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kamryn Oien had an outrageously good game as she scored 20 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brylee Minnick, who scored four points along with seven assists and two blocks.
The win makes it two in a row for Decatur Community and bumps their season record up to 7-5. As for St. Francis, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Decatur Community will square off against Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wallace County will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to face off against Rawlins County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
