This season hasn't been kind to the Tallwood Lions, who are still winless after their ninth match. They had to suffer through a rough 82-18 loss at the hands of Kellam. Tallwood has not had much luck with Kellam recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Kellam's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mia Spain led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was Spain's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Whitehead, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Tallwood bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Kellam, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Tallwood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on First Colonial at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. First Colonial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Kellam won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Western Branch at 7:00 p.m. on December 20th. Western Branch will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
