Summerville has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Berkeley Stags at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Summerville had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against River Bluff on Friday as Summerville made off with a 28-3 victory. Summerville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Yannick Smith and Jaden Cummings were among the main playmakers for Summerville as the former picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns and the latter threw for 320 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.4% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheldon Glenn, who picked up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Berkeley blew past Conway, posting a 44-8 victory at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Berkeley.
Berkeley found their leader in underclassman Henry Rivers, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. McCrae Driggers also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.
Summerville pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Berkeley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything came up roses for Summerville against Berkeley in their previous meeting back in September as the team secured a 62-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Summerville since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
