The Fleming County Panthers will square off against the Powell County Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fleming County will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Garrard County on Saturday. The Panthers walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Golden Lions. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jett Martin made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Fleming County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 11-13 when he doesn't). Martin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Fleming County let Preston Cropper and Tyler Dells run wild. Cropper went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Dells went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Dells a new career-high.
Fleming County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garrard County only posted a batting average of .179.
Powell County came out on top against Montgomery County on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Pirates blew past the Indians 9-3. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.
Lacy Dicken spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Drew Miller was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dylan Carter, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Fleming County now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Powell County, their win bumped their record up to 10-16.
