The Julian Eagles came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Borrego Springs and snuck past 37-35. That's another feather in the cap for Julian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Julian was led to victory by Pete Vanderstaay and Max Cruz. Vanderstaay scored 13 points, while Cruz scored 12 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Vanderstaay has scored at least a third of Julian's points. Another player making a difference was Carlo Martinez, who scored seven points.
Despite the loss, Borrego Springs still got an impressive performance from Brody White, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 32 rebounds. White is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 19 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Alcaraz, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Julian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Borrego Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Julian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Calexico Mission at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Julian's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Calexico Mission has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Borrego Springs, they will take on West Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. West Shores is on a five-game streak of home losses, Borrego Springs a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
