The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Whitmire had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Thornwell by a score of 27-19 on Monday. The win was just what Whitmire needed coming off of a 48-16 loss in their prior contest.
Brooklynn Babb and Trystan Samples were among the main playmakers for Whitmire as the former scored seven points along with four steals and the latter scored seven points along with six rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Alleigh Corley, who scored five points.
South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.0 points per game. As for Whitmire, their win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-17.
