St. Patrick extended the longest winning streak in Southern Michigan (8 Man) this week by beating Burr Oak, 49-14. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Shamrocks.
St. Philip Catholic Central took down Litchfield 61-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
St. Patrick's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Collin Lay threw for 19 and one touchdown and John Pline had 19 yards receiving. On the ground Lay chipped in 121 yards.
St. Patrick's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Shamrocks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Lay has thrown for 421 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Pline has 11 catches for 232 yards. Lay also leads the league in rushing with 728 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Fighting Tigers and the Bobcats. St. Philip Catholic Central enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while Burr Oak ranks 23rd.
Two of the top units in Southern Michigan (8 Man) will face off this week when Patrick Russman's team takes on Waldron. The Shamrocks' offense has racked up 453 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Spartans have allowed only 142 on the year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Waldron takes on St. Patrick. Fred Bowers' team has allowed 142 points this season, while the Shamrocks have given up 171.
The Spartans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 982 from 1,077. The improvement was the result of 46-12 victory over Tekonsha last week.
