Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Chase Trojans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They lost to West Lincoln on the road by a decisive 53-35 margin on Friday. Chase's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Chase's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Da'Zion Murray, who rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns. Devin Mosley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
West Lincoln was led to victory by Caden Smith and Jaylin Winnex. Smith rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry, while Winnex rushed for 133 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
Chase's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for West Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Chase does not have any more games scheduled as of now. West Lincoln will head out on the road to face off against Monroe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 285 points over their last five contests.
