The Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to take on the Chestnut Ridge Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Westmont Hilltop is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Westmont Hilltop's tournament run continued when they took on Brookville on Saturday. The Hilltoppers put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 9-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hilltoppers.

Justin Ray was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Westmont Hilltop is 2-1 when Ray allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Ray was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Goodman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Westmont Hilltop: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Connor Sweeney, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Westmont Hilltop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chestnut Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Tyrone on Friday.
Like Westmont Hilltop, Chestnut Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Cale Harrison. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Harrison has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
Harrison wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cole Nicodemus, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs Nicodemus has posted since back in May of 2024. Blake Conlon also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Chestnut Ridge pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Westmont Hilltop, their record now sits at 5-6.
Westmont Hilltop couldn't quite get it done against Chestnut Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Hilltoppers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
