The Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Chatham by a score of 46-38. Given Coxsackie-Athens' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Panthers are ranked 511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riley Sitcer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Baileigh Briski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Coxsackie-Athens' win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Chatham, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Coxsackie-Athens will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cannoneers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chatham, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
