The Stockton Tigers will square off against the Archie Whirlwinds at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Stockton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over Liberal. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Stockton got a massive performance out of Raelyn Henderson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Megan Lee was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Archie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Kingsville on Wednesday as Archie made off with a 14-4 win.
Kyleigh Wilson made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Morgan Mattingley was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shelby Newport, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Archie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingsville only posted a batting average of .318.
The victory got Archie back to even at 1-1. As for Stockton, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Stockton took their victory against Archie when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3. Does Stockton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Archie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
