The Pueblo South Colts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Pueblo East, falling 61-21. Pueblo South was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.
Gracie Gonzales and Jaime Pearson certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Gonzales scored five points along with four blocks, while Pearson scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Pearson hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Pueblo South has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Pueblo East, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo South will take on Pueblo Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Pueblo Centennial is ranked 271st, while Pueblo South is ranked 265th). Pueblo East will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Pueblo West at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Pueblo West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Friday.
