The Hilton Head Island Seahawks struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Brunswick Pirates had 1500% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hilton Head Island took a serious blow against Brunswick, falling 69-31. Hilton Head Island was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.
Deja Godsun and Leah Jackson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Godsun scored 11 points, while Jackson dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. Godsun scored a full 35.5% of Hilton Head Island's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Brunswick was led to victory by Jakai Alston and Shanyece Quick. Alston dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Quick dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermiyah Ramsey, who scored 6 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Hilton Head Island and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Brunswick, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Hilton Head Island will be playing in front of their home fans against Richmond Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brunswick, they will head out on the road to face off against Lowndes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lowndes is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
