Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Horn

Horn had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mesquite Skeeters with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Jaguars have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Irella Bautista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks.

At the plate, Horn got a massive performance out of Jasmine Uribe, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, Uribe posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Armstrong, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Horn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Horn's victory bumped their record up to 16-9-1. As for Mesquite, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Horn will face off against rival Waxahachie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mesquite is set to take on their familiar foe Cedar Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
