The Garden Spot Spartans won the last time they faced the Elizabethtown Bears, and things went their way on Friday too. Garden Spot was the clear victor by a 24-3 margin over Elizabethtown. The result was nothing new for Garden Spot, who have now won seven matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Kye Harting continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Garden Spot's win was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Central Mountain and 1-8 Daniel Boone (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.9% over those games). As for Elizabethtown, they have fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Garden Spot will be playing at home against Solanco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Solanco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Garden Spot is ranked 91st). As for Elizabethtown, they will head out on the road to face off against Ephrata at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ephrata's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
