Another was Mickey Probst, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Newman Central Catholic owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. Everything went their way against Riverdale as they made off with a 7-0 win.
Not much got past Evan Bushman, who gave up just eight hits to keep Riverdale off the board. Bushman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Newman Central Catholic got a big performance out of Chase Decker, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Garret Matznick, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Forreston's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Newman Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-1-1.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Forreston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Newman Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Forreston suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Newman Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
