It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Neah Bay Red Devils had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 86-6 win over Winlock. The victory was nothing new for Neah Bay as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Jodell Wimberly was his usual excellent self, rushing for 289 yards and eight touchdowns on only 13 carries. Wimberly is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played. Tyler Swan was another key contributor, rushing for 107 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries.
Neah Bay's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Sound Christian and 1-8 Lummi (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.6% over those games). As for Winlock, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Neah Bay will face off against Liberty Christian at TBD on Saturday. Liberty Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Winlock does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
