The Erie Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Legacy Lightning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Erie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Erie took on Niwot on Tuesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 8-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Maddox Burnett made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Burnett was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other pitching news, Kaden Bertsch looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
Back at the plate, Ronin Ward was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kodie Shafter, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Legacy entered their tilt with Fairview on Wednesday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Knights.
Max Harbridge looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Legacy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jason Olsen, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Legacy pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Erie, their record now sits at 12-5.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Erie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Erie might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Legacy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
