The Edison Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Kimball Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edison has given up an average of 31.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Edison is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Mary's just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 44-27 fall against the Rams. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Rams are ranked 37th).
Although Edison took the loss, they still got scores from Langdon Horace, Kailan Beaver, Alonzo Ward III, and Dezmond Sanders.
Meanwhile, Kimball was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They managed a 28-22 win over Lodi. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
A big part of Kimball's win came down to the chemistry between Richard Sandoval and his top target Yuvraj Balagan. Sandoval threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns while Balagan picked up 152 receiving yards and three TDs. Those four passing touchdowns gave Sandoval a new career-high.
Kimball's run defense was locked in: Lodi could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Dawson Pelech for the heroic effort on defense: he. Kimball's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.4.
The victory got Kimball back to even at 4-4. As for Edison, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Edison has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 354.2 total yards per game. It's a different story for Kimball, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 226.1 total yards. Will Edison be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Jaguars flip the script?
Edison strolled past Kimball in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 23-7. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
