North Callaway and Bowling Green are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The North Callaway Thunderbirds will take on the Bowling Green Bobcats at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday. North Callaway has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16.
North Callaway suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 75-52 walloping at the hands of Clopton. North Callaway has struggled against Clopton recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, North Callaway had strong showings from Sam Pezold, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Isiah Craighead, who scored ten points along with two steals. Craighead is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Russell, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Bowling Green, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-51 loss to Mexico on January 4th. While losing is never fun, Bowling Green can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Mexico is ranked 53rd).
North Callaway bumped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Bowling Green, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
North Callaway suffered a grim 61-38 defeat to Bowling Green when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can North Callaway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
