Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Northeast should expect quite the challenge on Friday. The Eastside and Westside will square off when they and West Branch meet at 7:00 PM. Northeast are limping into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
West Branch had a rough outing against Bellevue two weeks ago, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. West Branch put a hurting on North Cedar to the tune of 52-14. Followers of West Branch probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected five blowout victories.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 20-57, which was the final score in Northeast's tilt against Cascade last Friday.
West Branch's win lifted them to 5-1 while Northeast's loss dropped them down to 0-6. We'll see if West Branch's success rolls on or if Northeast are able to steal their positive momentum.
