The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Suffolk Christian Academy falling 48-30. They have struggled against Rock Church recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Suffolk Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is De'Sean Stevenson. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with six steals. Stevenson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Hernandez, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Suffolk Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Leading Rock Church to victory were Christian Johnson and Miles Dawkins. Johnson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Dawkins scored 19 points along with seven assists and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dawkins has scored at least a third of Rock Church's points.
Suffolk Christian Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Rock Church, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Suffolk Christian Academy will square off against New Life Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. New Life Academy will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Rock Church, they will head out on the road to challenge Gateway Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway Christian is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
