Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Omaha Westside proved: they limited Fremont to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Elkhorn South got themselves on the board against Burke on Thursday, but Burke never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bulldogs 63-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Storm's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 92nd).
Omaha Westside better keep an eye on Jaydon Sutko. He was instrumental in Elkhorn South's win, rushing for 117 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries, while also catching one touchdown. Sutko's longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Charlie Buller was another key player, rushing for 16 yards and one score.
One reason for the win was Elkhorn South's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Bradley Bationo refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Elkhorn South received some extra help from Bationo, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Omaha Westside's record is now 5-1. As for Elkhorn South, their record now sits at 6-0.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jenkins and Sutko.
