Baseball Recap: Kofa Victorious

Kofa won the last time they faced Sunnyside and things went their way on Tuesday too. Kofa won by a run and slipped past Sunnyside 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Rosas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Kofa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Ozzie Ortiz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

Kofa is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. Sunnyside dropped their record down to 9-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Kofa will take on Chandler at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Kofa is facing Chandler at the right time seeing as Chandler is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Sunnyside, they will challenge Tucson High Magnet School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
