The Colusa RedHawks waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Live Oak 71-29 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-13.
Leading Colusa to victory were Landon Humphrey and Isaiah Travis. Humphrey scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Travis scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Humphrey hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Mackaben, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Live Oak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was T.J. Ehrke, who scored 11 points. Zack Granger was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Colusa is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Live Oak, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colusa will square off against Pierce at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pierce will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1144th, while Colusa is ranked 516th). As for Live Oak, they will head out on the road to take on Willows at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willows is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
