Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Northwest Area

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Pocono, Northwest Area was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Rams a 15-0 shutout. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jenna Robaczewski made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robaczewski was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Northwest Area let Addisyn Diltz and Ava Ruckle run wild. Diltz scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Ruckle scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Ruckle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Everett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Northwest Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Montour Vo-Tech only posted a batting average of .000.

Northwest Area's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Area will host Crestwood at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they will square off against Sugar Valley Rural at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
