The Tascosa Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Del Valle Conquistadores at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Even though Coronado scored an imposing 34 points on Thursday, Tascosa still came out on top. Tascosa put the hurt on Coronado with a sharp 56-34 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Tascosa just coasted through the last quarter.
Tascosa found their leader in underclassman Coltyn Fulton, who threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Tascosa also got a significant boost from Andrew Merrell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.
Meanwhile, Del Valle came tearing into Friday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Bel Air as Del Valle made off with a 42-17 win. Given Del Valle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Bel Air is ranked 720th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Del Valle relied on the efforts of Andres Mei, who picked up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Juan Archuleta, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Their wins bumped Tascosa to 4-6 and Del Valle to 9-1.
