The Treutlen Vikings won against the East Laurens Falcons on Friday with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Treutlen managed a 66-61 victory over East Laurens. The win was all the more spectacular given Treutlen's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while East Laurens is ranked 112th).
When it comes to explaining why East Laurens lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kyan Snead. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. The game was Snead's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Terrez Snead was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Treutlen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for East Laurens, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Treutlen and Telfair County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for East Laurens, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnson County at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
