Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) defeated Greenwood (S.C.), 42-10, on Friday to win the Class AAAA Division II state title and complete its first-ever undefeated (15-0) football season.
The Trojans' senior combination of quarterback
Justin Worley and wide receiver
Robert Joseph may go down as the greatest duo in South Carolina history, although state football records are sketchy, at best.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Worley - a University of Tennessee recruit - passed for 263 yards and five touchdowns to end his brilliant career with 13,385 yards and 157 touchdown passes, according to the Rock Hill Herald. This year he threw for 5,315 yards and a state-record 64 touchdowns.
Though just 5-9 and 153 pounds, Joseph snared three touchdown passes in the state title game to finish his senior year with 1,416 receiving yards and 25 touchdown catches. He set state records as a junior with 22 catches in a game and 150 for the year.
