Tri-Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Maysville a 13-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Scotties in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.
Paiton Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Murphy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Gracie Hutton looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Alivia Reffitt was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Larsyn Holdsworth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Tri-Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maysville only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Indian Valley came up short against John Glenn on Tuesday, falling 11-1.
Indian Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylyn Gardner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Tri-Valley pushed their record up to 1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Tri-Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Indian Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Will Tri-Valley repeat their success, or does Indian Valley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
