GRACE Christian hasn't had much luck against Wake Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The GRACE Christian Eagles will face off against the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The matchup will give GRACE Christian their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
GRACE Christian is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 11-4 to Greensboro Day School.
GRACE Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Bradley, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wake Christian Academy). Everything went their way against Falls Lake on Friday as Wake Christian Academy made off with a 12-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the game before.
Carter Collins was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, Grayson Durrant was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Turner, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Wake Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Falls Lake only posted a batting average of .250.
GRACE Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wake Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. GRACE Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wake Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
GRACE Christian might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Wake Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can GRACE Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
