The Jefferson Wildcats''s ten-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 31-28 win over Spencerville. Jefferson's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.
Jefferson found their leader in underclassman Dean Trentman, who rushed for 286 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Trentman's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Karder Agner and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Jefferson's victory.
Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Spencerville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Spencerville will head out on the road to face off against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edison will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
