If the East Ridge Knights were riding high off their 50-12 takedown of the South Sumter Raiders last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. East Ridge took a 49-33 bruising from South Lake on Thursday. East Ridge has not had much luck with South Lake recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
East Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amber Sommer, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Neishaliz De Jesus was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Leading South Lake to victory were Kaylin Cockefair and Jazmine Monroe. Cockefair scored 14 points along with seven blocks and six rebounds, while Monroe scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Monroe is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Sheffield, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
East Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.
East Ridge will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. Leesburg is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road. As for South Lake, they will face off against Tavares at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tavares will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 454th, while South Lake is ranked 223rd).
