Union Area had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Riverside Panthers on Monday as the Union Area Scotties made off with a 13-1 victory. Mia Preuhs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Preuhs was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Coming up, Union Area will head out on the road to square off against Wilmington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverside will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Freedom Area at 4:00 p.m. on March 31st.
