The Irmo Yellowjackets extended their postseason success on Friday against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks. They blew past the Seahawks 55-24 at home. The victory was just business as usual for Irmo, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Irmo was led to victory by Aaron (AJ) Brand Jr. and Jaden Allen-hendrix. Brand Jr. rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while Allen-hendrix gained 267 total yards and three touchdowns. Allen-hendrix has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last ten times he's played. Telvin Smiith was in the mix as well, providing Irmo with three touchdowns.
Irmo pushed their record up to 13-0 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-9 Colleton County and 2-9 North Myrtle Beach (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.1% over those games). As for Myrtle Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Irmo will head out on the road to face off against James Island at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. James Island is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Myrtle Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
