The St. Charles East Fighting Saints waltzed into Tuesday's game with five straight wins but they left with six. They strolled past Wheaton North with points to spare, taking the game 49-32. Given St. Charles East's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Wheaton North is ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Charles East got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carmen Aguilera out in front who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corinne Reed, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
St. Charles East's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Wheaton North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Charles East will challenge Lake Park at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Lake Park is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Wheaton North will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Batavia at 7:15 p.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Batavia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
