The Unity Reed Lions had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 48-21 loss at the hands of Hylton. Unity Reed was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-7.
Hylton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Akira Walton, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mara Crawford, who scored 15 points.
Unity Reed's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hylton, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Unity Reed will square off against Brentsville District at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hylton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Park View at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th.
