If The Kent-Meridian Royals were riding high off their 34-0 takedown of the Jefferson Raiders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Kent-Meridian took a serious blow against Decatur on Saturday, falling 42-14. Kent-Meridian lost against Decatur in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 41-19 score last time.
Nehemiah Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Decatur, rushing for 192 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Holloway, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Kent-Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Decatur, the victory was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kent-Meridian will challenge Kentlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kentlake is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Decatur, they will head out on the road to face off against Federal Way at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
