The East St. Louis Flyers pushed their score all the way to 64 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Douglass.
Several Flyers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Robert McCline, who scored 18 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Montreal Stacker, who scored 15 points.
East St. Louis bumped their record down to 5-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Douglass, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
East St. Louis will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 337th in Missouri, while East St. Louis is ranked 111th in Illinois). Douglass will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on OKC Storm North at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. OKC Storm North comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
