It may have taken  nine innings to finish the job, but South Salem ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Friday. They skirted past the Sprague Olympians  15-14. The Saxons'  victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet  this season.
 Sawyer Nelson and  Gavin Price did most of the damage at the plate:  Nelson  went 3-for-5 with one  home run, three  runs,  and three  RBI, while  Price  got on base  in five of his six plate appearances with one  home run, four  runs,  and two  RBI. Those  four  runs gave  Price a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jackson Buckingham, who  went a perfect 5-for-5 with two  RBI and one  run.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Salem  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 16  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least nine  hits in six consecutive  matches.
South Salem pushed their record up to 20-0 with the  win, which was their ninth straight  at home. As for Sprague,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 11-8.
 South Salem and Sprague should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage  in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Saxons will  square off against  West Salem  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday with a big rank  advantage  (2 vs. 78). Meanwhile,  Sprague (ranked 21st) will meet McNary (ranked 153rd)  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
