Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Y Yuma proved on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Wray. The win made it back-to-back wins for Y.
Y's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Carolina Ross, who scored 8 points. Jade Lungwitz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Defeat or not, Wray got some senior leadership from Dori Saffer who scored 15 points and Sydnee Cheek who scored 13 points along with 6 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Meisner, who scored 8 points.
Y's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Wray, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Y will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Brush at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th.
